    Student-Budget Grinds for Mōʻiliʻili

    Finding the truck from Mōʻiliʻili

The truck doesn’t set up in Mōʻiliʻili or on campus. Its home base is the Lowes Home Improvement parking lot at 411 Pacific Street in Iwilei, open Monday to Saturday from 10 AM to 3 PM – worth the trip on a day without afternoon classes.

    Ordering on a student budget

Dole Soft Serve is $6, Da Original all-beef dog and Da Shaun Dog are $9, and a $3 combo adds a drink and chips. Want something heartier to split with a roommate? Cazi’s bento pairs a mini lau lau with kalua pig for $15, and the lau lau recipe took First Place at the Taste of Honolulu in 1995.

    Mōʻiliʻili Landmarks & Next-Door Neighborhoods

Mōʻiliʻili spreads along South King Street and University Avenue, between McCully and the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. Its history runs deep – quite literally, since a cave system lies under some of its busiest corners.

    • University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa

The state’s flagship campus sits right above Mōʻiliʻili, which is why so many students live, study and eat here.

    • Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaiʻi

The center on South Beretania Street tells the story of Japanese immigrants in Hawaiʻi, from plantation days through the 442nd.

    • Old Stadium Park

The park at King and Isenberg Streets marks where Honolulu Stadium stood until it came down in 1976; a plaque remembers it.

    • Mōʻiliʻili Karst

A limestone cave system that runs beneath South King Street and University Avenue – a hidden piece of local geology.

For UH students, Mōʻiliʻili families and anyone planning a get-together.

Does Danjah Dog park near UH Mānoa or in Mōʻiliʻili?

Not regularly. The truck’s daily stop is 411 Pacific Street in Iwilei (the Lowes Home Improvement lot), Monday to Saturday, 10 AM to 3 PM. It can come to Mōʻiliʻili for a booked event if the venue allows food trucks.

What’s the cheapest meal on the menu?

Dole Soft Serve is $6. For a full meal, Da Original all-beef dog, Da Shaun Dog or Da Original Hammah are $9 each, and adding a combo for $3 gets you a drink and chips.

Can a UH club or student group book the truck?

Yes, truck bookings and drop-off catering are available across Oʻahu. On-campus events usually need approval from the university, so confirm that with your venue, then request a quote on our catering page.
