Danjah Dog — Hawaiian street food and food truck catering for Kawela Bay, North Shore Oʻahu.
VIEW OUR MENU ›Best Hawaiian Street Food for Kawela Bay & the Far North Shore
Kawela Bay is one of the quietest corners of Oʻahu: a small, sheltered bay just west of Turtle Bay, a few hundred residents, and a shoreline path that ends under a giant banyan. There’s no strip of restaurants here, which is exactly why families renting or living along the bay plan their food ahead – and why a booked Danjah Dog truck can turn a backyard gathering into a real North Shore party.
Hawaiian Street Food in Kawela Bay
Danjah Dog is a Honolulu Hawaiian street food truck serving Danjah Dogs, Hammah Burgahs, brunch sandos, Cazi’s kalua pig bentos and Dole Soft Serve. Kawela Bay (ZIP 96731) is far from the truck, so most residents and guests book Danjah Dog catering for gatherings.

Planning Grinds Around the Bay
The truck’s home base
Danjah Dog parks every Monday through Saturday, 10 AM to 3 PM, in the Lowes Home Improvement lot at 411 Pacific Street in Iwilei, Honolulu. From Kawela Bay that’s a trip all the way around to town, so most folks out here either stop by when they’re already in Honolulu or bring the truck to them.
A beach-house spread that works
For a family reunion or a sunset party, mix trays of Hammah Burgahs with a run of Danjah Dogs – Da Original all-beef, Da Podagee Sausage Dog and Da Shaun Dog for the vegetarians – and finish with Dole Soft Serve. Cazi’s mini lau lau and kalua pig bento brings the old-style local plate to the table.

Banyans, Bays & the Kahuku Plain
Kawela Bay sits on Kamehameha Highway between Waialeʻe and Sunset Beach to the west and Turtle Bay and Kahuku to the east. Past Kawela, the highway swings inland across the Kahuku Plain, so the bay feels like the last stretch of the classic North Shore coastline.
The Kawela Bay banyan path
A shoreline walk of about 1.2 miles that ends at a huge banyan tree, a backdrop seen in film and TV productions.
Turtle Bay
The resort area just east of the bay, with trails that stretch from Kawela Bay toward Kahuku Point.
Waialeʻe Beach Park
Shoreline access west of the bay, near the small offshore islet of Kukaimanini.
Opana Radar Site
A National Historic Landmark just inland from the bay, tied to December 7, 1941; it is not open to the public.
James Campbell National Wildlife Refuge
Protected wetland habitat on the Kahuku Plain to the east.

Kawela Bay Questions? We Got Answers
For Kawela Bay residents, vacation renters and anyone planning a far North Shore gathering.
Is there a Danjah Dog stop at Kawela Bay?
No. The truck’s only regular stop is 411 Pacific Street in Honolulu, Monday to Saturday from 10 AM to 3 PM. For Kawela Bay, the practical options are visiting the truck when you’re in town or booking catering.
Can I get Danjah Dog delivered to a Kawela Bay rental?
Danjah Dog is on DoorDash and Uber Eats, but the truck is in Honolulu, so delivery to Kawela Bay may not be available. Check your exact address in the apps; for a sure thing, book catering.
Can you cater a beach-house party near Turtle Bay?
Yes. Catering and truck bookings are available anywhere on Oʻahu, including the Kawela Bay and Turtle Bay area. Use the quote form on our catering page with your date, location and headcount, and confirm food-truck rules with your venue.
What should we order for a North Shore family reunion?
A mix of Hammah Burgahs and Danjah Dogs covers most appetites, Dole Soft Serve ($6) suits the little ones, and Cazi’s mini lau lau and kalua pig bento ($15) is the local-style favorite. Dole Soft Serve makes a good finish.
Are there vegetarian options for our group?
Yes – Da Shaun Dog and Da Shaun Burger are both vegetarian, so non-meat eaters at your Kawela Bay gathering aren’t stuck with chips.
How hot is Danjah Sauce?
It comes in three levels: Danjah, Mo Danjah and Majah Danjah (when available). The sauce uses 27 to 33 ingredients depending on the peppers, so start with the regular Danjah if you’re unsure.
