ʻĀina Haina means “Hind’s land” – this valley was once Robert Hind’s dairy, and after the 1946 tsunami it became homes, including houses for returning veterans. That family-first feel never left. Tucked between Waiʻalae Iki Ridge and Hawaiʻi Loa Ridge, it’s a neighborhood of school pickups, keiki birthday parties and Sunday get-togethers, all of which go better with Danjah Dog’s island-style street food.
