Maunawili is a valley of springs – more than fifty of them feed the streams that eventually fill Kawainui Marsh. Behind the homes, the land opens into banana patches, horse stables and the long shadow of Olomana. There are no restaurants in the neighborhood at all, which makes a catered Danjah Dog spread at home one of the easiest ways to feed a crowd here.

Olomana
The three-peaked windward landmark (Olomana, Pakuʻi and Ahiki) whose trail is steep, rope-assisted and dangerous beyond the first peak.
Maunawili Trail
The state-maintained trail crossing the upper valley from the Pali Highway toward Waimānalo.
Maunawili Falls
A waterfall pool in the valley; trail access has changed in recent years, so check current state guidance before you go.
Royal Hawaiian Golf Club
The golf course in the Luana Hills area of the valley, past which the Olomana trail begins.
Hawaiian Agriculture Research Center
A research station in the valley with breeding programs for sugar cane, coffee and cacao.
