Best Hawaiian Street Food in Mākaha Valley: Catering for Valley Homes & Gatherings

Mākaha Valley is quiet country: a residential pocket climbing inland from the coast toward the slopes of Kaʻala, with green ridges on both sides and an ancient heiau tucked among the homes. There are no food stands up here, so when people host, they bring the food in. Danjah Dog’s truck and drop-off catering can supply Danjah Dogs, Hammah Burgahs and Cazi’s bentos for the day.

    Valley Parties, Danjah Style

How valley residents get Danjah Dog

The truck stays in Honolulu at the Lowes Home Improvement lot, 411 Pacific Street, Monday through Saturday from 10 AM to 3 PM. Valley residents usually book catering for a party at home, or stop at the truck when they’re in town.

    Ideas for a home gathering

A backyard or lanai party works well with a spread of Hammah Burgahs and Danjah Dogs, with the three heat levels of Danjah Sauce on the side. For an older crowd, Cazi’s mini lau lau and kalua pig bento is the crowd-pleaser; for a morning event, brunch sandos are $8.

    Condos and gated streets

Parts of the valley are condominiums or gated communities. If you’re planning an event there, check with your association about where a truck can set up, or choose drop-off catering instead.

    • Kāneʻākī Heiau

A temple first dedicated to Lono and later to Kū, restored by the Bishop Museum. It sits inside a gated community, and visits must be arranged in advance.

    • Mākaha Valley Road

The main road into the valley from Farrington Highway, leading to the valley’s homes, condos and resort land.

    • The Mākaha golf resort land

Fairways have long covered part of the valley floor; the resort property has had redevelopment plans in recent years.

    • Mākaha Valley Towers

High-rise condominiums whose upper floors look out over the valley and down to the ocean.

Mākaha Valley Questions? We Got Answers

For valley homeowners, condo residents and anyone hosting at home.

Can Danjah Dog cater a party at my Mākaha Valley home?

Yes. Danjah Dog offers truck and drop-off catering anywhere on Oʻahu, including Mākaha Valley. Share your address, date and headcount through the quote form on our catering page.

Can the food truck park in a gated Mākaha Valley community?

Only if your association allows it. Check where a truck can set up before booking, and if space is tight, drop-off catering is an easy alternative.

Does Danjah Dog deliver up to Mākaha Valley?

Probably not. We’re on DoorDash and Uber Eats, but the food comes from our Honolulu truck and coverage depends on each app and your address.

Is Mākaha Valley a separate place from Mākaha?

Yes. Mākaha Valley is its own census area inland from Mākaha town, though both use ZIP code 96792.

    What’s a good menu for a mixed-age family gathering?

Pair Hammah Burgahs and Da Original dogs with Da Original all-beef dogs for the kids, add Cazi’s bentos for anyone wanting a local plate, and finish with Dole Soft Serve. Da Shaun Dog and Da Shaun Burger cover vegetarian guests.

    How spicy is Danjah Sauce?

You choose: Danjah, Mo Danjah or Majah Danjah (when available). It’s made with 27 to 33 ingredients depending on the peppers.
